Class of 2026 Graduation

Auditions will be held on April 14 during lunch to determine who will be performing at graduation and baccalaureate. Seniors who wish to try out need to select and practice their talent for the auditions. A committee composed of faculty, staff, and students will make the final decision.

The annual Blue Ribbon Ceremony will take place on April 28 in the Performing Arts Center. This ceremony recognizes any grade level student who has earned first or second place at the state level or higher.

School counselors gather information from advisors, coaches, and directors, and then notify students and their families a couple of weeks before the event if they will be recognized.

Seniors who have been awarded local scholarships and their families will be invited to a special program at CHS.

The CHS Athletic Department will celebrate junior and senior athletes who have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher and have earned a varsity letter this year during the Scholar Athlete Ceremony at 6:30 p.m. on May 17 in the Performing Arts Center. Over 300 student-athletes will be invited to the ceremony by the Athletic Department.

Baccalaureate is a non-denominational ceremony coordinated by a team of students, parents, and local religious leaders. It will be held at 7 p.m. on May 19 at Fairhaven Church. Seniors should wear their cap and gown.

All seniors will finish their classroom responsibilities for the fourth quarter at 2:50 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20. All fourth quarter assignments, papers, fourth quarter tests, quizzes, reports, etc. must be completed before the students leave on May 20.

Commencement practice will be held at the Wright State University Nutter Center at 10 a.m. on May 22.

Commencement practice allows everyone to feel comfortable about the ceremony and, in the past, has contributed to the long-standing positive tradition of Centerville commencements. All seniors should attend.

Centerville High School commencement will be held at the Wright State University Nutter Center at 9 a.m. on May 23.

There are no reserved seats except for one small section for the faculty. No tickets required. Bring all your family and friends to join in the joyous celebration!

We expect the candidates for graduation to exhibit mature behavior. All rules and regulations of both CHS and the Nutter Center are in effect.

Doors will open at 8 a.m. Pictures may be taken before the exercises in and around the arena. The ceremony will last two hours.

Your student’s grades are available online through the Home Access Center. If you need a copy of a midterm or quarterly report, let us know.

Senior report cards will be available to view on Home Access Center until Aug. 1

Transcript of the student’s 4-year experience is recorded and available at the student’s request.

A final transcript survey will be distributed in advisory in May. Students must enter the name of the colleges/universities they wish their transcript sent. Transcripts include grades, final cumulative grade point average, credits and seals earned.

All 4-year colleges request the final transcript, which is forwarded by the Guidance Department at the end of June. Thereafter, all transcripts must be secured through the Centerville City Schools Student Services Office, 111 Virginia Ave., Centerville, OH 45458, 937-433-8841. A final request will automatically be sent to seniors to let us know which school they plan to attend. It is important to communicate with the colleges that have accepted your son’s or daughter’s application for admission if he/she decides not to attend.

All seniors are responsible for their behavior, conduct, and school property, as they normally have been for four years until the conclusion of commencement. This is important because some students feel that, when class is over the last day, they have completed their obligation and responsibility.

Seniors eligible to graduate are expected to follow CHS rules and regulations and behave in a respectful manner. Participation in year-end graduation activities is a privilege and not a guaranteed right. Eligible students will receive a diploma, however, inappropriate behavior can result in a student being denied the privilege of participating in all year-end activities.

Any day chosen as senior non-attendance day is unsanctioned and unexcused. The school cannot in any way be responsible for the health and safety of the senior students who choose not to attend school. Consequences for truancy will be the same as those listed in the Student Handbook.

Diplomas will be distributed at live commencement ceremonies. Please safeguard your diploma as there is no “replacement” diploma readily available.

Seniors had the opportunity to purchase caps, gowns, and tassels through Graduate Service. Following induction, members of the National Honor Society purchased distinguishing tassels. Those students who earned the designation of Summa Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude, or Cum Laude were given the opportunity to purchase a stole. 

Caps, gowns, tassels, NHS tassels, and stoles will be distributed at CHS. Additionally, students earning an Honors Diploma will receive a black and gold cord at no charge during the Cap and Gown Distribution.

Contact the Central Unit Office regarding gown size exchanges. Cap decorations are not permitted.

Seniors who have a school-issued Chromebook will be asked to turn in their device before their last day of school. Students are expected to turn in the school-issued Chromebook as well as the Chromebook charger. Fees will be added to HAC for any device or charger that is not returned.

We plan to roll our ParentSquare lists over to the new school year on June 1. At that time, your account will be removed (unless you have younger children in our schools), and you will no longer receive messages from CHS or the district. All outstanding school fees incurred by seniors during their years in Centerville City Schools must be paid before a student may participate in commencement. Any outstanding fees can be viewed in Home Access Center.

If parents or students plan to pay by personal check, fees must be paid prior to graduation. Payment can be made at any time prior graduation using a credit card, cashier’s check, money order, or cash.

Any remaining funds in your graduated student’s lunch account may be refunded or transferred to another student enrolled in Centerville City Schools. Please contact Student Nutrition Services at 937-433-8841 to request a refund or transfer.

Cap and gown distribution is May 12 during both lunch periods in the front of central. Any cap and gown not picked up at this time will be in the Central Unit office. All gowns are black with gold cuffs this year.

During cap and gown distribution, these items will be at a separate table to pick up:

• Black and gold cords for students earning Honors Diplomas
• Red cords for blood donors (donated three  times during high school career)
• Honors stoles
• NHS tassels

Cords for block classes, foreign language, etc. will be ordered through and distributed by the teachers.

Please refer to the Graduation Requirements page for more information about Honors Diplomas. If your child received an Honors Diploma, there will be a sticker on their diploma. Students earning an Honors Diploma will receive a black and gold cord at no charge during the Cap and Gown Distribution.

There is no tassel for an Honors Diploma recipient. The only tassels are CHS and National Honor Society tassels. (NHS tassels are ordered through faculty adviser Kelly Korpusik).

The deadline for ordering the stoles is Feb. 12.  Contact the Central Unit office after cap and gown distribution there MAY be extras - no guarantees.  Cost is $15.00.
